About Visit Dock

Built by someone who does the visits

Visit Dock did not start in a product meeting. It started from the frustration of not being able to find a visit report written two years earlier.

The story

My name is João António and I work in sales. I spent years visiting clients, taking photos, writing notes and producing reports.

The problem was never the visit itself. It was what happened afterwards. Reports ended up lost in emails, in SharePoint folders, in conversations. When someone asked what had been agreed at a store two years earlier, finding the answer took hours, when it turned up at all.

The information was all there. It just was not organised, or visible, or comparable. And the more time passed since the visit, the less it was worth, which is exactly backwards, because the history is what gives the context.

Visit Dock is the tool I wish I had had. A visit is recorded once, with its photos, answers and context, and stays findable and comparable years later. And since retail is no longer only physical, the Chrome extension brought online stores into the same history.

A sales professional with hands-on field experience visiting clients and points of sale. That experience, rather than a market study, is what shaped what Visit Dock does and what it deliberately does not do.

How the product is built

A field decision beats a meeting

Every feature has to solve a problem someone actually had on a visit. If I cannot say when that happened, it does not get built.

The history is the product

Recording a visit is easy. The hard part is being able to return to it two years later and understand what was at stake. That is what drives the architecture decisions.

No hidden modules

One price, everything included, no limit on stores or visits. A product that charges per store ends up pushing teams to record less, which is the opposite of the point.

The data belongs to the customer

It stays in the European Union, is exportable at any time through the API, and nothing is deleted without notice.

What we are not, yet

Visit Dock is a young product, built by one person. There is no roster of reference clients to show yet, and no 24-hour support team. What there is: a product that works every day, a fast reply to anyone who writes in, and someone who knows the problem from the inside. If that is enough to start a conversation, the conversation is with me.

Want to talk?

Account creation and the initial workspace setup happen in a 30 minute session, with me. That is also where I answer anything you want to ask.
