Sales routes

A field team spends between a quarter and a third of the day driving. It is the biggest hidden cost in the operation, and the easiest to cut.

What sales route planning is

Sales route planning is organising point-of-sale visits into sequences that minimise travel and guarantee coverage. Instead of each person deciding in the morning where to start, you define in advance which stores are visited, in what order and how often, so none is forgotten and time on the road is as low as possible.

Why deciding the route from memory is expensive

People deciding on the spot tend to repeat the comfortable stores and postpone the distant ones. The result is uneven coverage: some stores visited every month and others forgotten for a year, with nobody noticing until it is too late. On top of that, a sequence chosen by habit is rarely the shortest one.

How it works

  1. Pick the stores

From the location list, filtering by region, banner, client code or by not having been visited in more than X time.

  2. Set the sequence

Manually, if you know the area well, or by asking the optimiser to compute the shortest order between the points.

  3. Split across days

A long route can be split into several days, with a maximum number of stops per day.

  4. Assign it

The route is attached to the user who will run it and appears in their app.

  5. Run and record

Each stop opens the matching visit. As they are completed, the route shows progress.

  6. Share when needed

A read-only snapshot can be shared by link with someone outside, without giving them platform access.

Who benefits

Team supervisor

Stops distributing stores by email and starts seeing who has which route and where they are.

Field team

Arrives in the morning knowing exactly where they are going and in what order, with no time lost deciding.

Sales management

Can guarantee the visit frequency agreed with the client is met, and prove it.

Agencies

Plan several clients without overlapping trips to the same area on the same day.

Use cases

1

Recovering forgotten stores

Filtering locations with no visit in over 90 days returns 23 stores, nearly all in the same outlying region. Instead of fitting them in gradually, you build a three-day route that covers all of them and restores coverage in one go.

2

Product launch with a tight window

A launch requires presence in 60 stores in the first week. The stores are split into four routes, one per person, optimised by proximity. Coverage is guaranteed without depending on who remembers where they have been.

3

Proving coverage to the client

An agency has to demonstrate it met the contracted frequency. The route snapshot shows the planned stops, the completed ones and the dates, in a link the client opens without needing an account.

Frequently asked questions

Does the optimisation account for traffic?

The optimisation computes the shortest order between points based on distance. It does not replace a live navigator: the route defines where to go, the phone navigator handles the drive itself.

Can I change the route after assigning it?

Yes. Adding, removing or reordering stops is possible at any time, and the change appears immediately for whoever is running it.

What happens if a store is not visited?

The stop stays incomplete and remains visible on the route. It does not disappear or get marked done, which is exactly the point: the gap has to be visible.

Can I repeat the same route every month?

Yes, by duplicating it for the next period. It is the most practical way to hold a stable visit frequency.

Does the route work without a connection?

The route is available on the device and visits can be recorded offline. Syncing happens once the connection returns.

Can I share the route with someone without an account?

Yes. The snapshot creates a read-only link, useful for showing a client or a store manager without giving them platform access.
